Happy Birthday Frank
it would have been Frank Zappa's birthday today....that deserves a mention. There are luckily thousands of people still around who are working to keep his music and legacy alive, and we are very glad to play some small,if insignificant, role in that by,at least ,playing Frank's music (as best we can) in live shows and perhaps to some "new ears". In a live gig situation,Frank's songs both enthrall and amuse the listener,and predicate deeper thought about such a diversity of subjects and objects....and that can never be a bad thing.....Happy Birthday Frank !
The Ultimate Rock Party show
Last Saturday (18 December) was the first of our new Strictly Frankly (100% Zappa) Tribute shows. A new set ,wierd to have none of our songs in there, but a whole lot of fun and challenges ! It was a real blast and we had a great time,good stage,nice sound,good engineer........... and ,despite a shit-load of snow and freezing temperatures ,we had a great crowd in who really enjoyed themselves ! One of the highlights was the 'semi-spontaneous Air Guitar event' in which members of the public came up on stage to show off their dynamic Air Guitar skills during the "Tiny Lites" solo....ferking excellent ! The winner (Eelco from The Hague)was given one of our very own guitars as a prize !!
A mention must also go to the awesome support band Bald As Love who put down a really shrp Hendrix set.
Now we are gonna chill out with friends and family for Christmas and we will be back out to do some shows in the Benelux between 20 January and 20 February. Have a lovely holiday and we hope Santa brings you everything you wanted !

ZAPPATiKA was formed in 2006 by British guitarist/singer ZAP McINNES - and bionic Dutch Drummer BATTATUTTI - with the intention of performing some of FZ's music, but also to further their own compositions with a live band.
This has gone through various line ups but in the middle of 2009 ZAPPATiKA settled on this working ensemble:
ZOMBY WOOF (Guitar/Vocals)
THE KID (Bass/Vocals)
BONGO FURY (Percussion/Vocals)
KE (Violin/Vocals)
and of course,
BATTA TUTTI on Drums
and ZAP MCINNES (Lead Guitar/Lead Vocals)
ZAPPATiKA has released one studio album so far (The Short but legendary Flight of the Dodo) and work has just begun (Nov 2010) on the second. The band have played in various European countries and continue to do so actively. In the Summer of 2010 ZAPPATiKA headlined Saturday night at the world's largest Frank Zappa memorial festival Zappanale,in Germany.
